Dot reached toward her, her hands coming to rest on Asha's head and jack.
She started to concentrate, adding speed and strength as best she could...
knowing that the heavens could rain down upon them for her actions.

Asha's body twitched at the contact, and there was a blip on the screen- but
not much other than these symptoms did Dot see.  She did feel power leave
her, and a wrenching of local space...

"What's going on back there," Shirow's voice interrupted.  He seemed so far
away, his voice seeming to come from the end of a tunnel.  "Our cloak has
been disrupted, there was some energy pulse... And now they are locking on.
Taking evasive action..."

Dot could hear the strain in his voice, and wasn't sure if this anamoly was
because she was better able to read him, or because of the fact that Shirow
was actually panicing...

The Merlin shook as an explosion detonated very close to the ship.  "I'm not
sure how long I can hold this!..."

Asha's eyes fluttered, but did not open.  She was fighting, that much was
obvious, as sweat rolled down her face, her brow creased as if in
concentration.

Finally, her eyes opened, weakly.  Her mouth formed the words *Thank you*
before she lost consciousness.

The AV rocked with another explosion, and the metal screamed in
protestation.  "We can't take another hit like that!  Talk to me!  We need
to get out of here!"

"Go!" Dot yelled as she secured herself better.  She wondered, briefly, if
another burst of satellite fire would sear past them, destroying things they
had been near, before she looked at Asha.

Sweet Asha.  They'd known each other only a short while, but Dot was certain
they were becoming friends.  The craft jerked while Dot looked at the sweat
drenched face of her friend.  What had happened?

She'd have to wait for the answer.
