For a long moment, the cursor blinked steadily at the prompt as the
construct moved towards Dot.  She could see it fully now; the almagam of the
remnants of the avatars it had destroyed blended into its warped form.
Mouths moved silently in the creature as it loomed large in Dot's HUD.

Mental processes unused for eons turned as binary data gave way to remnant
memory.

A voice scratchy with disuse echoed through the ether.  A voice more than
synthesized binary data, but less than human.  A voice filled with pain and
weariness.  A voice that echoed the words emblazoned on Dot's command line.

"Who ... are you?" 

"Umm... Dot.  But I really don't know anymore than you do.  Maybe less."
Dot could feel her face reddening as she spoke, "but I could fill you in on
everything I do know."  and without further ado she started in on a very
abbreviated relation of her journeys...
