Asha looked at Suhuy with an expression of one seeing a monkey suddenly gain
the power of speech. "So then, you have an idea what it actually is? I
never thought it could exist out of the Ether- even in a host. From what
Rook said, Dara sent Morgan in to look for a Serpent, but instead he found a
Dragon. I don't know what in the world that means, but for some reason they
were very pleased that Morgan couldn't gain the Serpent's other eye for it."
She shrugged. "I wish that Rook was here now. I feel so over my head it's
not funny- sort of like a child faced with the daunting prospect of handling
adult..." She smiled self-consciously. "Forgive me. I'm rambling."

"So *do* you still need to see it? Will it help you?"

+++++

"It's ridiculously dangerous, incredibly unpredictable, near-impossible to
contain, and possessed with an irritable and malicious spirit." Suhuy
giggled, the momentary lucidity cracking like desert worn paint. "Of course
we need it! Where is this Rook of yours?"

"I... I don't know," Asha said sadly. "He left some time ago- said he had
some 'Family Problems' to resolve."

"He's been gone for long periods before," she continued, "but never this
long."

Then she thought about Suhuy's statement. "What did you need from him?"

Dot listened, without speaking. She felt the operation distantly.

"History." Suhuy trundled over to where Dot lay, looking over the work on
her body with a detached interest. "How long this has been going on. What
he's seen. What he knows. Can't get my fingers around a cloud without it."
He looked up, his dark eyes focusing on some point well beyond the room. "I
could go looking for him... Dot and I could! And Master, if he =must= come."
