"Well, I certainly see an affinity between you," said Mandor. "And it's one
that she doesn't share with ... that."

He moved an expressive hand to the rapidly disintegrating Pretty - not a
pleasant sight.

"What is it, Suhuy? Do you know?" he asked. "Not that ... which we seek, I
believe. It takes a lot of my power to hold it .... but ... "

He was frowning now, watching as though intrigued.

Dot looked at the silvery orb that kept Pretty in check, "okay, but my blood
isn't very useful without the others... I think."

Pretty became more and more violent the closer she came to complete
dissolution- for all the good it did her. It seemed that something was
fighting within her- postules burst on her body to spew out vile goo, only
to be consumed by roiling undulations that attempted to patch the damage.
It was to the point now that even her basic feature were gone; her eyes
moved throughout the goo, attempting despite the convulsions to stay riveted
on Dot.

Unlikely though it was, she was apparently still capable of speech.
"mine... please," the voice implored, almost child-like now in it's request.
"so... close". The miasma funnelled up through the area circumscribed by
the globe, finally leaving the wreckage that had been pretty in a pile of
protoplasmic glop on the floor of the infirmary.

Kayle finally stirred, groaning, her consciousness coming back slowly. She
favored her arm, moving it only gingerly even in her semi-conscious state.
"Wha..." she managed, then seeing what was left of Pretty scrabbled as fast
as she could away from it, looking at it in terror.

But Pretty was not much of a danger now. The miasma started to lose it's
consistency, even as it roiled around the space it was limited to.
