At Kayle's words, Asha's attention snapped back to Dot, as she awaited her
answer.

Under Asha's gaze Dot withered as she said, "some of the numbers looked...
off?"

+++++

And then there was a buzzing from another corner of the room.

And a yelp.

Then an electrified yelp.

Suhuy giggled. Pretty jumped about, as if trying to shake off the new
implants jammed into its neck.

Asha's eyes widened, even as she looked at Kayle. "I told you to keep an
eye on him," she said evenly, even as the smaller woman ran towards Suhuy
and Pretty.

"It was sort of hard to watch everyone," Kayle said, pointedly. "It doesn't
look like he used any wireless modules- so the poor thing is merely trapped
within it's own mind." She tried to figure out how to get closer to the
nightmare creature without getting eviscerated by accident.

Approaching closer, Asha bracketed Suhuy with a glare. "You are *not* what
I expected of a Chaos Lord," she said, dirisively. "Else you might notice
that your distractions put us farther from your goal." She looked worriedly
at Kayle and Pretty. "Can you make it stand down so Kayle can help it? The
loopback effect will kill it," she said, managing to keep the worry from her
voice. She looked towards Dot imploringly. "Or can you do something?"

Suhuy looked up with boiling black eyes. His robes rustled as if someone had
turned on an electric fan underneath the tatters of fabric.

"You don't want me to be what you'd expect," he growled.

Asha was taken aback at the sudden transformation Suhuy had undergone, to
the point that she stood in shock watching him as he moved to the beast's
side.

Then the expression and the rustling was gone, and he was back to his simple
joy in watching Pretty read her own mind.

"Sit, Pretty! Sit! Like this!" He ran his fingers over the creatures spine
and flicked something that looked like a mole. Suddenly, Pretty's legs
stopped working, and the creature was reduced to laying on the floor and
whimpering.

"There you go!"

Dot got closer to Pretty, almost fearlessly when it's legs went out, hoping
that the passive interface would come up. She jumped as Pretty twitched
toward her, but tightened her resolve after realizing that Pretty was very
little threat to her... for now.

Emboldened by the fact that Dot was still in one piece, Kayle came to kneel
beside Pretty.

"This is some pretty nasty work," she said, shaking her head. "I don't even
know enough about it's physiology to know if removing the implants would do
more harm than good," she finished grimly. "So I suppose the best thing is
just to disable them."

With the care of one who doesn't know how long before danger strikes, Kayle
hooked up her pad to a plug sticking out of Pretty's neck. It hadn't been
implanted with the care Kayle had shown, so it was fouled up in a tuft of
hair, half protruding from the skin. But the connection apparently worked,
as she began looking at the pad.

"Dot, I'm going to need your help- I can't do both of these at once. See
that nodule on the back of its neck? There should be a slight depression in
it's surface. I'm going to need you to press it on the count of three."
Just as she spoke, Pretty convulsed, almost causing Kayle to disconnect the
pad in her haste to move out of the way.

"Ummm... Right. I'm not sure how much more of this it can take, so we're
going to have to move fast. One. Two. Three!"

Dot plunged her finger against the nodule, a sickening sensation
accompanying the action.

Pretty convulsed, jerking once as they buzzing stopped, and the panels
popped free.

Suhuy pouted almost audibly from his station near them.
