Dot shrugged, "it's vague. I haven't done research on it, but most people
are inclined to believe it's Fiona."
"I've licked her," Suhuy added, nothing but helpful. "She tastes all red and
sharp. You can lick her too!"

Asha wisely decided to say nothing else on that matter, choosing instead to
concentrate on Dot.

"We will succeed because if we don't, everyone dies. It can't be much worse
than that. Actually, I think what happens is worse than death. Word is
that there's a place where 'souls' go... but that'll be destroyed by the
Plantaxy." Dot looked at Asha, cocking her head to the side, "Crown?"
Suhuy puttered off to another dark corner, muttering under his breath about
'hurting lovelies...'
+++++
"We seem to be the victim of tangential thoughts at this point," Asha said,
her perfect white teeth worrying her lower lip as her eyes wandered towards
the horizon. "I wish Rook were here. He'd be able to answer you a whole
lot better than I."
She looked back towards Dot. "Why don't we start from the beginning; I
think that would be more productive, eh?" She sat forward, steepling her
hands as she began her tale.
"Somehow, the shadows around Cyberia are sealed off from the Wastelands.
I'm not sure how- I've just seen the results first hand. Any overt attempt
at affecting reality results in a gigawatt laser from the heavens frying the
unfortunate and anyone in a swath around him." She shuddered at the
thought.
"For some reason, however, in this relatively small area of Shadow, there
are more elders than you could count, in addition to Alphas running all over
the place. As you can surmise, this makes the life expectancy here very
low. In the absence of Amber to fight over, the Elders fight over the
makeup of Cyberia, with games of deceit and treachery determining who's in
charge."
"Crown Enterprises is the mega-corp that has held all of the chips for a
long time. They have a piece of everything from weapons manufacturing to
baby food. No matter who you buy from, you can be sure that they owe some
allegiance to Crown. TriOptimum opposes them in this, but they have not
been able to gain the upper hand for a long time- their only edge seems to
be in BioTech, but from what I understand, some of the depredations that
they have made in that arena have caught up with them as of late."
"A wrench was thrown into their game this time around- a player that noone
expected. This player also wanted Chaos. They had apparently found out
that Chaos was not destroyed... Merely imprisoned. So they set one of their
agents out to free it."
"The agent freed - something." She sat back a bit and sighed, her eyes
focussed on a spot behind Dot. "I have felt the touch of the echoes of
Chaos, and there is a purity to it that defies comprehension. This thing is
not of Chaos. Chaotic, yes. But there is a malevolence to it that pure
Chaos does not possess. This entity is breaking down the barriers that
separate the Shadows of Cyberia. They are merging together, and this merge
is in no way benign. Storms occur where the shadows bleed into each other,
and out of these storms ride creatures unseen before." She brushed a stray
strand of hair from her eyes. Shaking her head slowly, she finished, "I
don't think that you'll find anything here but death."
